Rick Mohall has extensive experience in all areas of retail Pharmacy Operations.
He achieved a BS in Biology from Penn State University, a BS in pharmacy from Duquesne University, and a PharmD from the University of Florida. Furthermore, He procured these additional professional certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor
- APhA Immunization Certification
- NIPCO- Pharmacist Care Diplomat
- NIPCO- Men’s Health Care
- University of Minnesota- Pharmaceutical Care Program
- Eli Lilly and Joslin Health Center- Diabetes Care Program
During Rick’s career, he worked successfully as a retail Store Manager and a Pharmacist Manager where he was involved in all ad ordering, merchandising, and human resource aspects of running a store.
Rick cultivated multi-store experience as both a Clinical Manager and a Pharmacy District Manager.
During his time as a Pharmacy District Manager, Rick’s district was one of the most productive as measured in per prescriptions filled in the company. In addition, Rick’s team procured one of the highest Generic Substitution Rates in the industry.
As a Clinical Manager, he was a part of the Eckerd Patient Care team that won the Pinnacle Award for Patient Care.
- In addition, Rick worked with the APhA on an asthma impact project and was a representative of the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and APhA physician and pharmacist liaison council.
- He also participated in the Men’s Health Risk Assessment Tool Project sponsored by NIPCO and the Pharmacy Link project with Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania.
As Senior Director of Clinical Services, Rick attained chain wide responsibilities for the development of the Clinical Team, and implemented and executed of all Clinical Programs.
These included:
- The successful development and growth of the clinical programs from 660 participating pharmacists to over 12,000 pharmacists.
- During his tenure, Rick’s Clinical Programs exceeded every year’s previous year’s total sales and gross profit numbers.
He created the Clinical team structure and assembled the most exemplary clinical team in the industry.
- From the aforementioned team, which consisted of a maximum of 21 pharmacists, 10 former Clinical Team members have assumed other leadership roles at Rite Aid.
- Furthermore, Rick’s team was instrumental in pushing legislation to allow pharmacists to immunize in NY and ME. For Rick’s own part, he was indispensable in assisting in the passage of a bill in PA, which lowered the immunization age for pharmacist administration of flu shots.
- Rick was asked to read and commented on both State and Federal legislation that involved Pharmacy practice. He further spoke in front of multiple committees at the state level, discussed pharmacy practice with the staff of several United States Senators, and aided our Government Affairs team in multiple regulatory issues and concerns.
- He assisted in implementing in-house CPR training.
- Rick worked on the PA project with the University of Pittsburgh, CE City, and PQA, which showed the impact of pharmacists on quality metrics. The study was published in Health Affairs, and the program demonstrated that pharmacy could drive quality metrics around PBM “Star Measures”.
- He was involved in the chain wide marketing program for multiple pharmacy initiatives.
- During Rick’s tenure and because of his direct involvement in the process of immunizations, Rite Aid achieved the APhA immunization Champion Award.
- He was on the advisory Panel Member for MTM Core Elements Model.
- He collaborated in decisions regarding the purchasing of flu shots from various vendors.
- Rick further selected and implemented the Temperature Monitoring system used to monitor the integrity of pharmacy products.
In Rick’s current consulting business, he works with multiple companies and has successfully bolstered their growing knowledge and business opportunities.
